Meaning: As we become old, it is harder to learn or do things in a different way we are used to.

Examples:
I wanted to teach my grandfather Chinese, but you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. He said that it was too difficult, and that he would never be able to learn it.
He has been an aggressive cop all his life, and do not expect him to change now. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
